Madurai, February 18, 2026: Meenakshi Super Speciality Hospital will host Meenakshi Neuroendocon 2026, Tamil Nadu’s first conference dedicated to Extended Endoscopic Skull Base Surgery, from February 20 to 22, 2026. The conference aims to equip young medical professionals in neurology, neurosurgery, and ENT with valuable exposure to advanced, minimally invasive techniques used to treat tumours and lesions located deep at the base of the skull.

Organised in association with Madurai Medical College, the three-day conference will bring together over 20 national faculty members from leading institutions across the country, including All India Institute of Medical Sciences. It is expected to draw young medical professionals from the fields of neurology, neurosurgery, and ENT. The programme will feature didactic lectures on skull base anatomy and advanced endoscopic approaches, along with hands-on cadaveric dissection workshops.

Meenakshi Super Speciality Hospital has been performing neurosurgeries for pituitary gland tumours and lesions for over 25 years. The hospital pioneered Extended Endoscopic Skull Base procedures in the region and has been successfully carrying them out since 2017.

In his comments, Dr. K. Selvamuthukumaran, Senior Consultant and Head of the Department of Neurosurgery at Meenakshi Super Speciality Hospital, said that this is the first time in the state that a conference of this scale, featuring national-level experts in minimally invasive extended skull base surgery, is being organised.

He explained that unlike standard skull base surgery, the “extended” approach goes beyond conventional anatomical boundaries to access complex regions such as the anterior and middle skull base, areas near the brainstem, regions behind the nose and sinuses, and tumours involving both the skull base and the upper spine.

The cadaveric training sessions have been specially designed to refresh anatomical knowledge and enhance surgical skills in extended endoscopic skull base techniques. The conference will also spotlight revolutionary advances in the field, including TONES (Transorbital Neuroendoscopic Surgery).

Dr. K. Senthil Kumar,Senior Consultant, Department of Neurosurgery, emphasised that dedicated training platforms such as Meenakshi Neuroendocon 2026 play a crucial role in promoting extended endoscopic skull base approaches and expanding the scope of neurosurgical management for complex skull base lesions.

He noted that the conference proceedings will underscore the enhanced precision and improved patient outcomes associated with these advanced procedures, as they offer superior visualisation, better anatomical orientation, and minimally invasive surgical corridors. These technologies enable surgeons to access deep-seated skull base tumours with minimal disruption to surrounding brain tissue, facilitating complete and efficient tumour excision with reduced morbidity and faster recovery.

Highlighting the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration, Dr. D. R. Nageshwaran, Head of the Department and Senior Consultant, ENT, stated that endoscopic skull base surgery requires an in-depth understanding of sinonasal and skull base anatomy, making multidisciplinary cadaveric workshops invaluable for ensuring safe and effective surgical practice.

Dr. Gowtham Kuncha, Consultant Neurosurgeon, observed that extended endoscopic skull base surgery marks a paradigm shift towards minimally invasive yet maximally effective neurosurgical care. He emphasised that structured, hands-on cadaveric training is essential for young neurosurgeons and ENT fellows to confidently adopt and master these advanced techniques.

Meenakshi Neuroendocon 2026 is poised to emerge as a premier academic platform, fostering skill development, multidisciplinary collaboration, and the dissemination of cutting-edge advancements in endoscopic skull base surgery, ultimately strengthening patient care and surgical excellence in Tamil Nadu and across the country.

Mr. Dileep from the hospital was also present.
