SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST-KTR) announced its strategic collaboration with Bengaluru-based QNu Labs, a pioneer in quantum-safe cybersecurity solutions, through the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), marking a milestone in India’s quantum technology ecosystem by jointly committing to advancing education, research, and innovation in quantum communication and cybersecurity.
“This MoU represents a powerful convergence of academia and industry,” said Prof. C. Muthamizhchelvan, Vice Chancellor, SRMIST. “By joining forces with QNu Labs, we are not only building future-ready talent but also shaping India’s leadership in the quantum frontier.”
As part of the collaboration, a cutting-edge Centre for Quantum Information, Computing, and Communications Research will be set up at SRMIST’s Kattankulathur campus. The centre will include a dedicated Quantum Communications Lab, fully equipped with QNu Labs’ proprietary hardware, software, and quantum-safe products. SRMIST will provide the required infrastructure and physical space to support this initiative.

Together, we aim to empower the next generation of educators and innovators with future-ready capabilities in quantum-safe technologies and cybersecurity”, stated Sunil Bhide, Chief Delivery Officer, QNu Labs Pvt Ltd.
Adding further on the commitment he said, “At QNu Academy, we believe the future of national security and innovation lies in quantum resilience. Our partnership with SRM reflects a shared vision to build this future—one skilled mind at a time.”
In addition to infrastructure development, the partnership will launch a Core Elective Course in Quantum Communication for 120 B.Tech students, offering hands-on training and certification delivered by QNu experts. Faculty members also stand to benefit from the continuous professional development through structured workshops and certification modules.
SRMIST will also adopt a Hub-and-Spoke academic model, mentoring over 100 colleges across Tamil Nadu and building capacity through virtual lab access and sustained training support provided by QNu Labs. The collaboration further includes joint R&D initiatives, co-authored publications, and participation in government-funded programs under the National Quantum Mission, aligning with India’s strategic goals for quantum readiness.
The total investment for establishing the lab and training infrastructure stands at approximately ₹1.5 crores.
QNu Labs, founded in 2016, is India’s first quantum cybersecurity firm and recently secured ₹60 crore in Series A funding, led by the National Quantum Mission, to accelerate its innovations in secure data transmission and encryption technologies.
